The 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulietta marks a mid-cycle facelift which is going to lead to the introduction of a next generation model which is scheduled to come out soon. It has been around five years already when the newest Giulietta was introduced and the sales numbers have been dwindling for the past few years.
The Italian automaker managed to introduce the Giulia QV, which was a success, and decided to keep the changes of the Giulietta to a minimum, which later resulted in poor sales numbers. Bringing it back a bit is this 2018 update which is going slowly lead to a revival of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta brand which is scheduled for release in the near future.
The car has been in talks for a time now but it was immediately known that the latest car is not going to be shaped too drastically and differently. When the car was spotted doing rounds in its camo, the spy photos revealed a model which is going to retain much of the characteristics of the car. This was also for the interior and the exterior of the car. The model cannot compete with the likes of Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf in this manner so this is why a complete overhaul is being saved for the next generation model and the future.
The Alfa Romeo brand has been struggling recently when outputting their cars on the market and that was largely seen with the late arrival of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the release of their first ever SUV model as well. The 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulietta is thus going to receive a minor facelift which might not give it a fighting chance compared to the competition it is facing. Nevertheless, this review will tell you what the car is made of and what we can expect form it once the release date comes.
2018 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Exterior Review
The new exterior style of the 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulietta does not bring that many differences compared to the current model. The front end does bring a new Alfa Romeo shield that uses a honeycomb grille which is used instead of the horizontal-slat layout from before. It also combines with new badge that also has a new styling.
The same type of a honeycomb grille is featured on the bumper which receives blacks inserts and has a sportier character. The rear end of the car is completely identical to the outgoing model and does not feature any changes at all. The only difference is a small change to the bumper design and the addition of oblique tailpipes. And finally, there are some new alloy wheels added as well.
Besides this there are some other upgrades in an attempt to give more sprat to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2018. These include red front bumper inserts, carbon headlamps and glossy anthracite accents placed on the handles, mirror caps, and foglamp surrounds, but these features are only found on the Veloce trim level. Everything else is the same and as we did not expect Alfa Romeo to bring out their new language design for this model, we did expect more form this facelift to be honest.
2018 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Interior Design
The same goes for the redesign of the 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulietta interior. The only memorable change is the upgrade given to the Uconnect infotainment system. It comes available with either a five- or 6.5-inch touchscreen and also Bluetooth connectivity for hand-free and audio streaming and new Uconnect LIVE services. This app offers you the use of news with Reuters, navigation with TomTom LIVE. and music streaming with Deezer and TuneIn. There is also an app which helps you with the Alfa Performance service and helps you measure the cars specs and performance.
Aesthetically speaking, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2018 gets only minor changes in order to shape everything perfectly. These include revised leather additions as the model comes with Alcantara sports seats with red stitching and also carbon surrounds which are placed on the door panels and dashboard surrounds. This is standard for the Veloce trim and it also comes with a unique matte black dashboard which is also available in the Super trim levels. If you take the Lusso pack, you get height-adjustable leather seats and armrests.
Engine Specs of 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulietta
As there were no significant changes done to the overall 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulietta, the engine is also going to be carried over. It does features some improvements on the performance and the fuel economy of the car as it uses the 1.6-liter JTD which is a diesel-fed four-banger that can go up to 118 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque and is matted to a Alfa’s TCT transmission. The model can sprint go 0-60 mph in 10.2 seconds at a top speed of 121 mph. There is also going to be amore powerful 2.0-liter JTDm engine that makes 148 or 173 horsepower.
The gasoline engine setup includes 1.4-liter Turbo Petrol that makes 118 horsepower, the 1.4-liter Turbo Multiair making 148 or 168 horsepower and finally the range topping 1.75-liter Turbo Petrol making 237 horsepower. And finally there is also a bi-fuel 1.4-liter TB engine option making 118 horsepower.
