The newly announced 2018 Audi A7 is not going to change that much compared to the current model. This car has received three facelifts in the last six years, so it is hard to imagine that an entire overhaul is under way right now. Based on the pictures that we saw and the released spy photos the car will be a bit sharpen up for the upcoming season but do not expect a whole lot to happen.
For now confirmed changes include new exterior paint colors, a new set of wheels and some added features for the interior of the 2018 Audi A7. The style is going to be the same and this is certainly not an issue with this car as it has been like this since 2014 and still manages to hold up.
The new 2018 Audi A7 still competes in the same luxury segment, but with the model already looking good with the given updates and with it providing so many praises already, we can only say that it is good that they did not change a whole lot about the model.
The original Audi A7 model was actually introduced to rival the Mercedes Benz CLS Class and was Audi’s unique answer to it. It was actually molded on their A6 model and actually looks more like an A6 with a fastback-like roof and a hatchback-type tailgate. This model was first seen in 2010 and it was the first Audi liftback model after a long time, with the last one being released in 1970. The A7 gain on popularity simply because of its design and the suitable engine lineup which came with it.
Since it was introduced the car had two updates besides the facelift versions and it is getting ready for another one and its 2018 release. This is the only model coming from Audi which had that much facelifts done to it. We see this one as the final one before the debut of the next-generation model. Interestingly the current look still makes the car fresh and good looking so we can perhaps need to wait a bit longer to get the next-generation car. We are faithfully awaiting the release date and think that the 2018 Audi A7 will be a very much liked car.
When is the 2018 Audi A7 Release Date?
The car is actually going to get an early release and the 2018 Audi A7 is being expected to make its debut at the end of 2017. The car looks fairly in shape and all the production necessities are almost done. We are just waiting for some final testing to finish and the model is being issued. This is good news for people who cannot wait any longer for the newest version of the A7 car. The car will probably come out along the year, with the exact release date probably being in the third quarter of 2017. A release video was also dropped to get us geared up for the upcoming 2018 Audi A7.
What is the Cost of the 2018 Audi A7?
Price ratings have already been released for the 2017 Audi A7 but only in Germany. This means that we still do not have firmly fixed price rates for the US market but based on the European specs we can translate the price into a starting base MSRP price of $68,800 for the Premium Plus version. The Prestige is going to come to $71,350. Competition cars are valued at $76,550 and the Premium Plus versions with a larger engine can go up to $79,900 or $82,900. Compared to the last model, the price does increase but it does not go insanely much. Still if you want to get your hands on the update version of the 2018 Audi A7 you will have to be willing to pay some more.
2018 Audi A7 Exterior Design and Appearance
The exterior of the 2018 Audi A7 is mainly going to be a carryover of the previous look. You do not have to expect any extravagant changes but the car is going to incorporate some additions which are going to be innovations for the car. These include the new alloy wheels that are now being used and also three new exterior colors
The added colors include Matador Red, Gotland Green, and Java Brown, with the last one offered for the first time for other Audi models except the A6 Allroad version. Even with the lack of changes, we can surely say that the A7 and the A7 Sportback versions from Audi are their best looking and most appealing models in the lineup and will continue to be so for now.
The result of the update and the addition of all the angular elements to the 2018 Audi A7 is a much sportier stance for the car. The vehicle will look meaner and it is actually more than we were hoping to get with this car. Sometimes Audi can be stingy with their updates but this is one for the books and perhaps an exception to the rule that they decided to make.
2018 Audi A7 Interior Changes
There are more updates placed on the inside of the 2018 Audi A7 than on the inside of it. Unfortunately, the update is not going to include new leather interior and added colors this time but we are getting new inlays in Aluminum Ellipse silver and fine grain birch Natural Agate gray. The technological part is going to be updated with the added Apple Car Play and Android Auto and you also get inductive charging for your phone this time. The people in the back can enjoy their rid using a pair of detachable tablets. Finally, there are some convenience features in terms of LED interior lighting and also heated seats with electric lumbar adjustment.
Everything else is more or less the same. This does not make the 2018 Audi A7 a bad model but we are talking about a facelift. The technology is improved and there are some wonderful new additions that keep the car updated and will offer great new options for the car. Thus the update is very much appropriate for a facelifted version of an Audi car.
Which Engine is Going to be Used?
The engine choice for the 2018 Audi A7 is also going to be carried over for the 2018 model year. The car utilizes 3.0-liter V-6 engine for its US releases which make 333 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. The European version of the car is going to be using 3.0-liter V-6 turbodiesel in three options, but this version of the engine is not available for the North American crowd. Entry level engines make 218 horsepower, the mid range are set at 271 horsepower and the top of the range can go to 320 horsepower.
The European market Audi A7 is also going to add a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 252 horsepower which provides the best fuel economy ratings out of them all.
As for the transmission options, there are not going to be any bigger changes there as well. The model will still be matted to a seven-speed S Tronic or it will use an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission, and this is all based on the type of model that we have. Also the Quattro all-wheel drive system is still offered with this model but it will depend on the trim level and also the engine variant whether it becomes an optional or a standard version for the car. It seems very much appropriate to keep things as they are for now but a stronger version and a bigger engine might come in effect next time. This will most likely depend when and how Audi decides to update the future engines.
2018 Audi A7 0-60 mph Ability and Top Speed
With its base version of the engine, the 2018 Audi A7 is going to be able to hit the 0-60 mph mark in just 5.2 seconds, making the specs the same as last year. The top speed is limited to 130 mph. Being that this is a carryover it is completely normal that the specs are also transferred as well. Also the outgoing model has some very decent rates already and it helps with the production of the car very much.
All in all, we are probably not going to see any improvements when it comes to the power and the output until they introduce a new engine. This may happen with a next-gen car but still who knows. For now we are able to only enjoy the new 2018 A7 model.
Fuel Economy Specifications for the 2018 Audi A7
The vehicle is going to have the same kind of fuel specifications and the 2018 Audi A7 is not going to change as the engine is the same. Thus the EPA rating of 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway is the same for US versions which are going to come out. For now no enhancements regarding fuel economy have been addressed and the model is going to be the same for now. But nevertheless, the model is very competitive in the segment. It will maintain its popularity among other cars and will maintain its positon. Generally speaking the rivaling cars are not doing so much better so it would seem that the 2018 Audi A7 is still in a good position market wise.
2018 Audi A7 Dimensions
As far as dimensions for the 2018 Audi A7 goes, they are also the same as the current ones. The car is going to have a total length of 196.2 in and a wheelbase of 114.7 in. The width is 75.2 in and the height is 55.9 in. Passenger volume is pretty great for the car and it remains at 94 cu ft and the cargo space is also pretty amazing and one of the better in the segment so it measures 25 cu ft. Finally, the curb weight is 4234 lb.
The new 2018 Audi A7 decides to keep things simple with a facelift as there is now need to expand the dimensions even further. The car might feel the same at first but it will help having the new additions. But the thing is that the size does not have to change as it may only case additional problems for the brand. Maybe they decide to keep the size the same with the next-gen even.
2018 Audi A7 Safety Specs
The 2018 Audi A7 is going to be one of the safest cars in its segment. The announced safety specs will certainly make the car a lot better and will updated the vehicle’s already great offer. The equipment pieces which are going to be utilized to enhance the safety of the car include driver and front passenger dual-stage airbags, front thorax side airbags, knee airbags, and Sideguard head curtain airbags, plus front passenger detection.
Among the standard safety equipment the 2018 Audi A7 is also going to add safety belt reminder, power locking system with safety unlock feature if airbags deploy, and lower anchors and tethers for children. Some driver assisting features are going to include anti-lock brake system with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, and electronic stability control with traction control.
Audi A7 was made for one purpose and the same purpose will be up to the 2018 Audi A7 to continue. The legacy of battling its greatest foe and competition vehicle will still be present with the car is released and it will need to face the latest Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class models. But there is another competitor with has emerged recently which is the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe car which is also going to search for its slice of the pie.
Some people are saying that the changes for this car are not enough compared to the price we have to pay for it. It is still an expensive car but we do get far less than we would expect to for this car to make.
But this update is going to keep the car fresh for at least two more years and means that the people from Audi are going to be free and prepare the next-gen model at their own pace. We shall see of the mentioned products and rivaling vehicle mange to overturn the situation in their favor but in our opinion things are going to stay as they are now.
