The new 2018 GMC Yukon can be a useful and versatile vehicle at the same time. It does incorporate some nice new parts and additions for the brand and does so by making better fuel economy possible for a crossover model. It is also better to drive and does offer improved handling ability compared to the vehicle seen the last time. But one of its strengths is the superior hauling ability that not a lot of other models can match.
Perhaps the Yukon is an old-school type of a truck, and in all fairness it is. You cannot count on it being something that it is not and it spec sheet shows how much the car still values some characteristics that were perhaps needed for some old era models. But you can count on the GMC Yukon being the highly-refined passenger, cargo, and trailer-hauler which can get you where you need and help you do the job that you strive to do. It is a vehicle that will allow you haul much more than just your family, you can move various larger loads whenever you feel like it.
The updated 2018 GMC Yukon will still be featured in SLE, SLT, and Denali models and there are a few changes waiting for us from the model. The model is also going to appear in standard length and also in the extended form for the Yukon XL models, which comes either in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Since the release date is getting nearer and we only have the pictures to show for it, it is due time that a review is provided as well.

Has the Price for the 2018 GMC Yukon Changed?
The price stays at a similar level for the 2018 GMC Yukon. As they did not change so much the price did not increase that much either. It will be offered at around 48,000 dollars for the base version, while the Denali trim is still the most expensive one with a price tag of 68,000 dollars.
2018 GMC Yukon Exterior Design
The exterior styling is not at all surprising for the 2018 GMC Yukon. It is something that we are already used to and the model is both tall and boxy, while at the same time looking very crisp and macho. The new Yukon resembles the new Sierra very much, even with the fact that they do not share any body panels anymore, but it is very clear to state that the models are in fact siblings. All the models coming out of the Arlington, Texas plant have a bold and brash look and this one is no exception. So not really any significant updates, expect keeping things fresh on the outside of the Yukon.
2018 GMC Yukon Interior of the Car
The interior of the 2018 GMC Yukon has taken a very surprising turn of events. In fact it looks much more car like than it ever did before. It does manage to keep some of the truck characteristics that are transferred from the previous models. But as this is a truck, almost everything on the inside is over-sized.
There is an enormous center console where the equally enormous belt buckle is set. GM is still offering room for three people up front which perhaps makes the Yukon unique in that aspects, but it is still only available for the upper trims if you pre-order it. All in all, the basic look and design of the car is the same but the car looks and little bit modernistic and was sharpen up on the inside.
There are going to be several options under the hood of the 2018 GMC Yukon models. This car can be viewed as a sort of a three in one mix, a minivan, a crossover, or a traditional SUV, and depending on the choice of engine that you get you can make your car so. The base engine is the 5.3-liter V-8 which produces 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque and comes with a 6-speed automatic. The more powerful one is a 6.2-liter V-8, used for the Denali trims, which makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This version of the powertrain will combine with a high-tech 8-speed automatic transmission. You can get all variants with rear- or extra-cost four-wheel drive.
2018 GMC Yukon 0-60 mph and Top Speed
The accelerating and top speed specs of the 2018 GMC Yukon will not change so much compared to the old version of the car. We are still looking at a top speed of 112 mph, while the time to get to 60 mph from 0 is 5.8 seconds, a great feet for the car so there was no need to update it or revise it.
Fuel Economy of the 2018 GMC Yukon
Generally speaking the 2018 GMC Yukon is not your typical fuel effective car. But for what it offers and for what it consumes, we are getting a pretty decent rate. The Yukon was considered as one of the least fuel efficient cars on the market some time ago, but thanks to the given updates it will be able to reach 19 mpg combined. The EPA stats show a rate of 16 mpg city, 23 highway, 19 combined for the XL version and 15/22/18 mpg for the four-wheel one. The Denali trim makes 15/22/17 in the short-wheelbase rear-wheel drive, and 15/20/17 mpg with four-wheel drive. The Denali XL on the other hand is good for 15/22/17 mpg with rear-wheel drive but just 14/16/20 mpg with four-wheel drive.
2018 GMC Yukon Dimensions and Size
The new 2018 GMC Yukon does not really change the size of the car with the new kind of truck. The updates do not go in so many details so the dimensions are not changed. In fact it will be kept to a length of 224.3 inches, wheelbase 130.0 inches, height 74.4 inches and width 80.5 inches. It is still capable of offering 176 cu ft of passenger volume and a cargo spacing of 39 cu ft.
Although we are still waiting for the crash test scores to arrive for the 2018 GMC Yukon, we predict them as being favorable based on the old scores and also the equipment that we are going to get. The standard set of features will include a rearview camera, six airbags, plus a class-exclusive front center airbag for models with front bucket seats. The SLT and Denali trims will come with much more extensive packages and safety specs with the Enhanced Driver Alert Package being part of the SLE setup.
Perhaps the most similar cars to the 2018 GMC Yukon are the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban models, which are functionally identical to the Yukon. But this update will perhaps make the car a little bit advanced towards the competition models. Other cars to consider include Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia and Ford Expedition cars.
