We were finally bestowed with a first look at the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk which was displayed at the latest New York Auto Show. But the model was not the best unveiling there as there were some models which stole to show, so the first appearance of the Trackhawk went a little bit under the radar. Nevertheless, it was still a very interesting sighting and for all who were interested in this vehicle it was a blessing to finally see it.
After many rumors the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is finally here and although it does not proved to be an overtly practical vehicle it is still the most practical Hellcat model released. This model is going to offer tons of cargo space and an immense towing rate, which rates it as one of the most useful Jeep products ever made. Also, a unique characteristic for this model is that it is completely prep to tackle any kind of winter conditions as it comes with the necessary gear and driving mode.
The thing about this Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is that it got its Hellcat engine quite naturally. It is not merely shoved in there and the Trackhawk will have many new elements and modifications compared to the base Grand Cherokee model.
After the pictures have circled the net and there are more information about the released date, we present to you our take and our review.
When is the Release Date of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Going to Happen?
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is finally unveiled and we were able to take a good look at the car and learn some things which were uncertain at the time. The release date is afoot and we can be as lucky as to get it by the end of this year when the vehicle is being prepared for a release.
Unfortunately, the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has yet to receive its official price tag. But according to some speculations we are probably looking at a price of about $80,895, compared to other Grand Cherokee models and the offered powertrains that they come with.
Exterior Modifications for the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk looks like a real beast. The designing team has gone all out in order to make the car look as aggressive as possible. The front part of the car sees an added hood with functional air extractors. The bumper has also been redesigned and helps with engine cooling and is more aerodynamic compared to now. The lower grille is also there to help with the engine cooling and uses a three-slot design to help with the air flow.
The wider fender flares are not there only for show, they hide the massive Pirelli tires that come at 20-inch of size and include Titanium finishes. The tires help with various kinds of weather conditions and are most suitable for dealing with cold weather.
The rear end probably received the most modifications as it looks completely new. The car adds a black trim and the exhaust system comes with chrome tips. A trailer hitch is also present with LED taillights that match the LED headlights. The big Trackhawk leathering in the back also help distinguish this trim model and set it apart from the base model and the overall look of the back end seems a little bit restrained compared to the front part.
Inside of the Vehicle
The interior design of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk gets a tweak compared to the original Grand Cherokee. They decided to have some fun with it and managed to add a slew of new details which are going to set the two apart. The first addition that you notice is red leather stitching, which are exclusive for this model and can be ordered separately. The vehicle also uses suede and Nappa leather for the seats and there is a full leather package which can be ordered optionally as well.
But the infotainment system as well as the gauge cluster have also gone through some changes in terms of design. There is a digital tachometer in the center of the TFT screen while the speedometer is moved left. The 8.4-inch Uconnect system still comes as standard and this time comes updated with SRT Performance Pages. The steering wheel has also been changed a bit and it adds some specific elements making it better to use.
Powertrain Stats and Updates
The biggest news for the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the engine that it borrows from the Dodge Challenger and the Dodge Charger models. The 6.2-liter Hellcat Hemi V-8 is transferred here completely unchanged and is adapted for the use of this vehicle. The output of the engine remains the same but the torque numbers are down 5 lb-ft. This amounts to a total of 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. The utility capability of this vehicle is so big and it even comes with the ability to tow 7,200 pounds.
0-60 mph and Top Speed
Due to the new engine for the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the model is able to speed up to 60 mph quicker than before. The time needed to reach 0-60 mph is 3.5 seconds while the top speed has still not officially been rated.
Another thing that we are still not treated about the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the fuel economy. They are still making the measurements but we are pretty sure that it is not going to be as favorable as one should hope so. Either way this car has a purpose and if you want it, it will have to come with some sacrifices.
Dimensions and Trunk Capacity
The size of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is certainly one of its biggest advantages. It is big enough to pack the passengers inside but its true purpose lies in the expanded cargo load which it is able to provide. The dimensions of the car are set at an overall length of 189.8 inches, wheelbase is 114.7 inches, the height is 67.9 inches and the width is 84.8 inches. On the inside the vehicle offers enough headroom and legroom with an overall passenger volume of 140.5 cu. ft. and a cargo bed of 36.3 cu. ft. or 68.3 cu. ft. with the seats down.
Safety of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
The newest 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is going to come with completely the same safety features as the base Jeep Grand Cherokee does. But it will subsequently add the optional and standard equipment of other trim levels that come below it. There are bound to be some news about added safety but we are going to get those announcements a bit later.
List of Rivals
The release of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is certainly going to make a lot of noise and we are expecting to see a big boom in the sales as well. No matter what the car becomes to represent and how favorable it gets the competition is already established.
