2018 Kia Cadenza

It appears that the 2018 Kia Cadenza is on its way. Kia has announced a redesigned version of their current second-generation model which will be appearing this year in their home market. But as expected the model will only be offered next year in the US market. When Kia introduced their initial Cadenza model in American it made so much noise and was considered as one of the best cars that year. They are now offering us a redesigned version of the second-gen model and are freshening up the segment a little bit.

When it comes to the new 2018 Kia Cadenza model, they have done a good job to update both the inside and outside of the car. In fact the model will receive some pretty nice additions for its exterior and interior, but will carry over the powertrain options.

The update was necessary because Kia is competing against some powerhouses like BMW and Chrysler in the American market. Keeping this car fresh is a necessity and the really competitive full-size sedan segment is not going to allow the manufacturers to take rests. You can see from the pictures that they did a great job and we provide you with a review so you understand those changes better. The only thing left is the release date which we are waiting for impatiently to come.

When is the Release Date for the 2018 Kia Cadenza Scheduled for?

The new 2018 Kia Cadenza model was initially showcased at the New York Auto Show, but there was no release date specified. What are the 2018 Kia Cadenza Exterior Updates?

What they did for the exterior design of the 2018 Kia Cadenza is to make a very intriguing design. The original concept features a very aggressively styled car, but the outgoing model will not be as aggressive as the renderings were. So it will actually focus on the simplicity of the straight line, which is the philosophy behind the design. Thus the model is designed by a single straight line which goes the length of the vehicle, giving us a sleek, coupe-like profile.

The front end has a newly designed “tiger nose” grille, with sharper edges. It comes with either a “diamond butterfly” mesh, for the lower trims, or an “Intaglio” layout with vertical blades, for the higher ones. The front fascia also has Z-shaped lighting signatures on the bumper and large LED daytime running lights.

The rear end has a massive bumper with some other new highlights. It will also add a trapezoidal license plate recess, slender taillights with Z-shaped LEDS and large exhaust outlets. Some chrome accents were placed for the side windows while the B- and C-pillars were blacked-out for a pillarless look. The car also uses 18-inch wheels as standard and 19-inch wheels optionally.

What are the 2018 Kia Cadenza Interior Changes?

The interior of the 2018 Kia Cadenza has also received new parts. But the redesigned features a lot of pieces being carried over from the first-gen models. The dashboard still has the familiar wrap around design and everything including the A/C vents, radio buttons and the infotainment screen has been arranged similarly. But the difference is that the dashboard has a more cohesive design compared to before and it also features an updated infotainment system.

The instrument cluster is new and offers two traditional gauges instead of the large, center-mounted speedometer. The steering wheel has a new, more modern design, with rearranged controls. The luxury has been upgraded with authentic stitching on the dashboard, the door panel and diamond-shaped stitching on the seats. The seats have been lowered a bit so a sportier feel is now given for the interior.

2018 Kia Cadenza Engine Specs

The powertrain of the 2018 Kia Cadenza is going to be carried over from the previous car. The same 3.3-liter V-6 engine is making a return and will provide 290 horsepower, which is actually a drop of 3 hp compared to the outgoing model. People might have expected an output of 300 hp but instead a lighter platform was used so the car does manage to behave similarly as if the power had been enhanced. This time,Kia’s first FWD-based eight-speed is going to be offered and will replace the six-speed automatic one.

2018 Kia Cadenza 0-60 mph Acceleration

Because all the information for the powertrain of the 2018 Kia Cadenza has not been made public, the 0-60 mph performance is also something that has to be officially released. Based on the current estimations, we are looking at a potential 6 seconds needed to reach 60 mph, while the top speed will remain at a governor limited level of 148 mph.

It will probably produce an EPA rating of around 20 mpg city drive and 28 mpg highway, with a combined rating of 23 mpg. These may not seem too much favorable but it is a standard consumption rate for the segment.

It is going to be slightly longer and will result in more legroom and also allow the rear passengers with more comfort and space. The length remains 195.7 inches, the height is 57.9 inches.

Safety Specifics

As the 2018 Kia Cadenza model is going to be sold in Amerika, it is also going to be the first Kia model to offer a Drive Wise sub-brand. This also means the car will offer expanded driver assistance features. These are going to include Advanced Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go function, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, and Departure Warning, and Smart Blind Spot Detection.

Rivals

The rivals for the new 2018 Kia Cadenza are actually going to be the old rivals. The models which will provide the most amount of completion for the Cadenza car are the Chrysler 300 and also the BMW 5 Series cars.
