The updated version of the 2018 Mercedes Benz SL-Class is upon us. There were some talks about this model arriving late but as it turned out we are going to get it early. The debut was made at the North American International Show for this car and it was the sixth-generation model which was supposed to replace the current one. It was quickly noted that the car needed some more work done so it was separated from the smaller SLK brand. The revised version was thus showcased recently at the Los Angeles Auto Show, giving room for an evident release date to come really soon.
The fifth generation SL-Class models were launched in 2003 and it was followed by a significant facelift which almost changed the face of the car in 2008. The sixth-generation models were released in 2012 and this new 2018 version is going to be a part of it. The SL-Class is probably one of the more iconic car that Mercedes has produced and it has been around since 1954 when it was introduced as a 300SL model.
There are going to be several revisions done with the new Mercedes Benz SL-Class models and its 2018 lineup. In fact the base version is moved from the SL400 to the SL450 as it gets a revived V-6 engine. The V-8 engine is carried over and is used for the SL550 variants while the AMG brand offers a V-8 for the SL63 and a V-12 for the SL65.
The refreshed version has been reviewed and also we have the exclusive pictures that are going to be just an introduction for the car to come.

If you go for the AMG package you also have some six additional wheel designs offered to you and there is also a choice between two new colors that are added which include Brilliant Blue and Selenite Grey Magno. Also, the car uses the Mercedes’ Magic Sky Control to help it take down the two-piece hardtop roof down.

The SL550 versions will come with a 4.7-liter, twin-turbo V-8 and this one will be offered completely unchanged. The output amounts to 449 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque and this option uses the new nine-speed automatic shifter.
When it comes to the AMG options, the SL63 has a 5.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 making 577 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque while the SL65 uses a 6.0-liter, twin-turbo V-12 which outputs 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque and uses seven-speed Speedshift automatic transmission available for both AMG models.

The newest lineup of 2018 Mercedes Benz SL-Class will not change the dimensions settings compared to the last time and we can expect to see more of the same in term with numbers. We are looking at a car which is going to have a full length of 182.3 inches and a wheelbase of 101.8 in. The height is 51.2-51.8 in while the width is 73.9 in. Inside we can also expect some great spacing with a passenger volume that measures up to 54 cu ft while the cargo volume is still 9-14 cu ft. The curb weight varies between 3800-4300 lb based on the trim type.
The new 2018 Mercedes Benz SL-Class will have both some active and passive safety features. The active ones include the Active Brake Assist which automatically turns the brakes on if the driver does not manage it in time. While the optional part of the package includes Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and both Pre-Safe and Pre-Safe Plus systems and they all come with the available Driver Assistance Package/
When it comes to the competition to the 2018 Mercedes Benz SL-Class, the only cars that we can mention here are the Porsche 911 Cabriolet version and the Jaguar F-Type Convertible. These models host a slew of similar features as well but the SL-Class has given a stellar update which prompts it to be a suitable car for this sort of segment.
