The newest 2018 Volvo V40 Cross Country gets a new face as it comes with many improvements that come on the interior, wheels and color options and updated technology as well. The model will be showcased this year at the Geneva Auto Show and the announcement came via several teaser images which were released by Volvo in order to prepare us for the actual thing.
The Cross Country is a young brand as it was introduced in 2013 alongside the base V40 version. It is still a five-passenger hatchback vehicle but one which adds greater versatility as it has a higher ground clearance that the entry level V40, an AWD system and dark body cladding. The model is a softrader and is aimed to help you through some very bad weather conditions as it can go through ice and show, rather than being able to tackle terrain with deep mud and rocks.
The 2018 update to the V40 Cross Country plans to make an already good and popular car an even better one. It is the top selling Volvo vehicle in Europe and the second best Volvo globally and they aim to keep it that way and even go beyond with the release of the new updated version.
There are still no information about the official US release date but after the showcasing in Geneva there may get to talk about it a bit. Our best guess is that it will happen possibly next year. The opportunity of having this attractive vehicle in the US market is a welcoming one and will sure make the fans happy. Read all about the Volvo V40 Cross Country 2018 in this review.
2018 Volvo V40 Cross Country Exterior
The majority of the updates made to the 2018 Volvo V40 Cross Country is seen on its exterior. The new model gets a new sporty grille which adds a center mesh and a Volvo logo placed on it. The headlights come with the trademark “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlight accents which is something that makes it a distinguishable Volvo car. The V40 carries over the faux front skid plates down below and the satin chrome trim extends far wider than it used to be before.
A wonderful new addition is the fact that the model is going to come with no less than eight wheel choices which are going to be available across the entire V40 lineup and including the R-Design and Cross Country respectively. The exterior is also graced with five new color variants that add Amazon Blue and Denim Blue, as the new ones to go along the Bursting Blue, Mussel Blue and Luminous Sand, which are the old colors.
Interior Changes 2018 Volvo V40 Cross Country
The interior of the 2018 Volvo V40 Cross Country was mostly inspired by the Volvo Concept Estate project car. It adds City Weave upholstery and Charcoal/Blond steering wheel color options. There are also several panel trim options offered on the inside, for instance Black Grid Aluminum, Milled Aluminum and Stealth Aluminum. The accents in the doors combine by adding contrasting stitching while a black headliner is now optional.
These are actually the changes that are going to make the difference compared to the previous car as everything else is mostly carried over. This does not have to be a bad thing as the car has been widely considered a roomy and comfortable car, as long as you do not exceed over 4 passengers. Something that the buyers will certainly like is the Volvo On Call smartphone app. Using it you can access the vehicle’s in-car features and remote control them. It also expands with an access to Microsoft Band 2, Apple Watch and Android Wear devices.
