Another SUV compact crossover is expected in a body of a 2018 Jeep Compass. This story comes as a direct response to the just revealed 2017’s model. The rumors originated at the opening of the Fiat Chrysler America’s Jeep assembly plant in Brazil, most certainly to spark the talk. Fiat Chrysler needs that to be there beginning of the marketing campaign for the next year.
Jeep Compass is an SUV introduced back in 2006, as the model for 2007. It is meant to be the entry-level sports utility vehicle just under the Jeep Wrangler. It shares that spot with the Jeep Patriot. If that is very confusing, imagine it as a family tree. Patriot and Compass are the two little brothers standing in the shadow of a big brother, Wrangler.
Talks surrounding the Jeep Compass started in at the 2002 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The final production version never kept the original drivetrain, however, all the stylistic details remained unchanged.
We are now in the second generation of the Jeep Compass, the next step in the evolution of this tough compact crossover that traditionally has 4 models in the lineup. One is made for the off road and three for extreme weather conditions.
We are presuming that the news release is not just for the South America. Continuing by that presumption, and seeing the 2017 model at the LA Auto Show, we can conclude that Fiat Chrysler had heard its customers. Just please God, let them keep the black stripe. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for?
2018 Jeep Compass Release Date And Price
Production and the release date of the 2018 Jeep Compass will strongly depend on how good will be the sales of the 2017 model. That is the first one of its generation and it would be wise not to draw any premature conclusions. And since wisdom is not our strength, we can freely assume that you can expect the first photos somewhere around summer next year and the showcase of the concept in autumn of 2017.
2018 Jeep Compass Exterior Design
Trim levels from the 2016 model will transfer to all the next models. You will be able to choose from:
We can only wish that the U.S. version could look just like the version presented in Brazil. They don’t need to add anything, just to update gadgets and safety according to the new technologies. As far as the styling is considered, the 2018 Jeep Compass will resemble its bigger brothers in style and the quality of the chassis.
The styling where you have that black stripe which covers the entire upper part of the vehicle must be loved by everyone. There is no person on this planet that can say that it is ugly. The rest of the details are tougher to detect and they include some high-tech daytime running lights, smaller rear window, chrome accent on the back side of the new, narrow, slotted grille.
There is an option for the dual-pane sunroof if you would like to have some additional openings.
On the rear part, you have a small spoiler which is there… God knows why. It’s not like you are going to participate in some kind of races with it.
Colors that will be available for the 2018 Jeep Compass are:
- Redline Red
- Spitfire Orange
- Olive Green
- Laser Blue Pearl
- Jazz Blue Pearl Coat
- Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat
- Diamond Black Crystal Pearl Coat
- Granite Crystal Metallic Clear Coat
- Pearl White tri-coat
- Bright White tri-coat
- Rhino Clear Coat (on Limited and Trailhawk versions only).
The Jeep Patriot replacement will be built in Mexico instead of Illinois. But, judging by the political climate in the U.S. right now, those plans might be postponed or canceled.
2018 Jeep Compass Interior Design
The main thing you will notice about the 2018 Jeep Compass interior design is the diversity and taste of colors. The designers chose to make the interior more vibrant by choosing the stitching of different color than the materials used in the interior. Colors are tied to the money you spend for the different classes like Sandstorm, Urbex, Alpine, Ski Gray, and Trailhawk.
- The Sandstorm – Cloth seats, Moroccan Sun II or Anodized Gunmetal bezels and a black instrument panel and black door panel
- Urbex – Black cloth or Black leather seats, two-tone tan/gray stitching and Anodized Gunmetal bezels
- Alpine – Limited edition representation. Light and bright
- Ski Gray – Only on the Latitude model; the seats are black and sky gray, McKinley leather; Jeep logos all around, black and gray door panels and glossy black Bezels
- Trailhawk – You can choose either leather or cloth seats. Stitching made with red contrast.
The infotainment system is most likely going to be a Uconnect system with 8.4” touchscreen system, which is also available in other models produced by the Fiat-Chrysler.
