2021 BMW M2 Release Date, Price and Exterior

2021 BMW M2 review

The newest update for the 2021 BMW M2 brand will bring back some necessary features which the car lacked. The new model tries to keep things as simple as possible in order to achieve what it needs. The price is balanced, despite some of the additions and upgrades made. But what they strive is to bring back some interior comfort which was subpar for a BMW-brand car opposed to other M-badged products.

What they actually did with the BMW M2 is to go back to the basics. Perhaps the previous models have taken things too far when it comes to driver characteristics. The performance rates and the acceleration were something that the manufacturers were concentrating on when making other M cars. But they are trying to bring back the necessary comfort for this new type of model.

The new 2021 M2 offers an intermediate offer. There are still some faults that could have been addressed. The style is not something to fall in love with and the fuel economy is also pretty bad. But the performance and the base equipment offered with this model are enough to give it a passing grade.

With the release date of this car coming soon, it was time to analyze the currently released pictures and fuse them with newly offered information in a comprehensive review.

When is the Release Date for the 2021 BMW M2 Supposed to be?

The release date for the 2021 BMW M2 is going to be officially announced soon. But it is already known that the model is supposed to get its release by the end of the year. The exact date will be provided in due time and we will report it as soon as possible.

What is the Price?

The 2021 BMW M2 tries very hard to keep its price in check. Even with the offered equipment and the setup that it has, the car manages to score a pretty decent pricing rate given its offer. The model will be offered for about 53,000 as a base price.

Exterior Looks

The styling of the exterior for the 2021 BMW M2 is not a surprising one. It immediately tells us which type of car it is. The front end still has a familiar twin-kidney grille which is placed atop the big air intakes surrounded by massive air ducts. The fenders are extremely flared which is necessary in order to handle the M axels and the wide tires that the car uses. The general look is one of a stubby coupe car, but a car that certainly means business.

Interior Upgrades

2021 BMW M2 interior

In fact, the 2021 BMW M2 does not upgrade the inside too much, at least in terms of luxury. The interior is not what you would expect from a BMW brand model, but it is a necessary feat in order to keep the price in check. Expect a stark interior without too much design flare and a lack of high-end materials. But added are specific M surfaces and M badges which make it distinguishable. One of the biggest assets for the inside is the seats. They are really great and comfortable and despite the fact that they do not include luxury materials they are pretty good for your back and provide support under any circumstance.

Powertrain and Specs

The new 2021 BMW M2 will share engines with the baseline of BMW cars. It is also the same engine used in the M3 and M4 models as well. The car gets its motivation from a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine which comes with direct-injection and win-scroll-turbo. The output equals 365 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 343 pound-feet of torque between 1,400 and 5,560 rpm. The entire drivetrain also benefits from the used dual-clutch 7-speed M DCT transmission which helps with the performance, and also a 6-speed manual as well.

0-60 mph Performance

Thanks to the powerful engine which the 2021 BMW M2 comes with, the acceleration rates are also pretty good. The model is quite capable of reaching 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds with the DCT transmission, or 4.4 seconds when using the 6-speed manual. Top speed is limited to 155 mph.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2021 BMW M2 is not a car that boasts great fuel ratings. In fact, they are even lack lustered for the segment it occupies, so perhaps other rivaling models can also offer a better and more fuel-efficient offer. The EPA stats come to 20 mpg city, 27 highway, 23 combined with the DCT or 18/26/21 mpg when using manual transmission.

Dimensions for the Car

When it comes to the size of the 2021 BMW M2, the model keeps its usual dimensions. In fact, it will provide us with the same type of offer that we got with the last model. They felt the changes in dimensions were not necessary as the refresh was the only thing that they have planned for this model year. The car measures a full length of 176.2 inches, wheelbase 106.0 inches, height 55.5 in and width 73.0 inches. Also, the interior volume is pretty standard and passengers get to enjoy 89 cu ft of space. The cargo bay fits 14 cu ft.

Vehicle’s Safety

The model will not lack the necessary safety applications and items, so the 2021 BMW M2 is still a secure car and one which provides us with a pretty nice offer when it comes to passenger safety. The model has forward collision warning, pedestrian warning with city braking, and lane departure warning offered as standard and even has adaptive cruise control. Optional equipment is a bit limited and we do not get the advanced specs we were expecting. The Executive package provides the only advanced upgrades when it comes to safety, adding a rearview camera, park distance control, automatic high beams, and an active driving assistant.

Rivaling Models

The 2021 BMW M2 model in front of us provides us with great performance, but not much can be said about its comfort. It is a model that will certainly find its designated target group and has the potential to be even greater. Perhaps this model is not the groundbreaking one that people have presumed and the competition does not help make it so as well. The models which are ranked in the same grade as the M2 include the Audi S3 and Audi A3  models, the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and the Acura ILX models.
