2021 Chevrolet Impala Release Date, Price and Redesign

2019 Chevrolet Impala review

The 2021 Chevrolet Impala is getting an update. The model will debut next year and we are going to see certain changes made for the recent design of the Impala model. The future one will include updates made to some key areas of the car which will see its design freshen up a bit that also makes it a very suitable new car.

The newer design of Impala vehicles were actually submitted through a style change which incorporated more handsome lines for a big car, very good driving ability, on board connectivity, comfort and actually everything that the preceding vehicle was not. These changes are what actually made this car what it is and what has brought it to the standard that we perceive it now.

The 2021 Chevrolet Impala is going to follow the recent design changes and make updates based on them. We are in for a very good looking car, if we are to believe the pictures, and if they do manage to incorporate all the bits and pieces from the previous one it will also offer a good ride.

The release date will get much quicker than we expect it so there is the matter of the review that we have to address now.

When is the Release Date of the 2021 Chevrolet Impala Scheduled for?

We can expect the newest updated version of the 2021 Chevrolet Impala on the market by the end of the year. Chevy will certainly make this model available much sooner which will also bring its release date closer to us. Thus we will get it by the end of 2021.

What is the Price of the Car?

Prices are not supposed to change for the 2021 Chevrolet Impala model. They are going to coincide closely to the current price range of the Impala models. The starting price is 27,500 USD for the LS version while the LT is priced 29,765 USD. The Premier is the top trim and is priced at 35,845 USD.

What is the Exterior Style Like?

The new 2021 Chevrolet Impala will resemble the model which adopted the new changes with the last redesign. The model was refurbished in 2014 when the old dull look was scrapped and a more chiseled and muscular one was adopted. This made the car look not as busy as you would perceive it to be and also made it be a cut above its class based on the looks.

The new Impala makes use of the great sheet metal and adopts a design which will continue the current one. There are not many changes which would invoke a very different look, but just some refreshing new liens here and there. The grille is updated a bit and also the headlights, with the side and the rear of the car remaining almost intact. Even with the new stamps into the hood the car is as exciting as it could be and feels really great.

Interior design and Update

As we have seen, the inside of the 2021 Chevrolet Impala looks a bit hyperactive. This is the kind of a design which was brought to us from the previous run of the model. It looked too busy in fact but they have decided to keep it. It uses two or three trim types which makes things too busy than they need to be. The shapes cut into each other and create a mess which is not easy to get out of. Even the redesign does not tone down the inside so much and we are left with a very busy interior. At least it is comfortable.

The Impala is a big car and it certainly shows it on the inside. It offers ample spacing and does not suffer from a claustrophobic interior that many of its rivals do as is the case with the premium four-door cars. Although the car is supposed to fit four on the inside it has enough room for five. The legroom is quite ample as well and gives us the ability to have a great ride. The materials have also been updated a bit so you can expect some new trims on the inside.

Powertrain Choices

The road manners of the 2021 Chevrolet Impala are supposed to be exceptional, and it is all owed to the type of the powertrain that has been used. There are going to be a couple of engine options with the 2.5-liter inline-4 engine being the base option. It helps the car gain 196 horsepower and will combine with a 6-speed automatic for this type of performance. The secondary option is a 6-cylinder 3.6-liter V-6 engine that will be enough to grant the Impala a power output of 305 hp and also makes the acceleration of the vehicle better. This one will also come with a 6-speed automatic transmission with a manual-shift mode.

0-60 mph and Top Speed

The acceleration of the 2021 Chevrolet Impala is going to be pretty decent based on the type of engines that it uses. The base version will be able to speed up to 0-60 mph in 8.7 seconds, while the stronger and faster 6-cyldiner one does so in 6.8 seconds. The top speed for both is the same and amounts to 132 mph.

What is the Fuel Economy Rating for the 2021 Chevrolet Impala?

The fuel economy for the 2021 Chevrolet Impala is pretty decent, even with the fact that this is a big sedan car. It does not suffer the penalties that these cars do but it is still not the leading one in the class. The four cylinder Impala is capable of making 22 mpg city, 30 highway, and 25 combined for its EPA rating, while eh 6 cylinder ones can do 19/28/22 mpg, or 18/28/22 mpg.

Dimensions of the Car

The 2021 Chevrolet Impala is a large car and luckily they did not decide to make it any larger. The model kept its shape and size for the update and we think that they are not even going to make it any bigger even when the next generation models arrive. This car is large enough in our opinion and it should stay this way as it is pretty balanced. The overall length is 201.3 in, wheelbase 111.7 in, height 58.9 in, width 73.0 in which also amounts to a curb weight of 3700 lb.

Safety Scores and Characteristics

We can say that the 2021 Chevrolet Impala is going to inherit some favorable crash test scores. The previous model has overall five star ratings across the board, but some of the tests were incomplete and we feel that they will require to provide new ones for the upcoming model. Also there are some pieces of equipment that the model lacked and which it could do well to add. Standard parts of the 2021 Impala are going to be 10 airbags and GM’s OnStar system, but you only get Bluetooth and a rearview camera on the base version of the car. The outward visibility is pretty solid and allows the driver to move pretty easy. Some advanced pieces of equipment include blind-spot monitors; a lane-departure warning system; adaptive cruise control; and a forward-collision warning system with automatic emergency braking.

Rivaling Models

The big car industry will welcome the 2021 Chevrolet Impala with open arms. Although there are many models already available in this segment, having one as an Impala car always does well. But still other competition vehicles are rising and there are other cars to consider here. Some alternatives are the Buick LaCrosse, 2021 Ford Taurus, Nissan Maxima and Toyota Avalon.
