2021 Chevrolet Trax

2021 Chevrolet Trax review

If you’re looking for a respectable passenger space, excellent crash test scores, lots of standard equipment for the money, and plenty of storage slots, the new 2021 Chevrolet Trax is worth a consideration. Additionally, the suburban comes with plenty of technologies, it’s easier to pack in compact spaces, easy to drive, and inexpensive. However, if you’re looking for a refined interior, and quick acceleration, the Trax may not turn out to be what you hoped for. Its release date should be expected in early 2021.

Quite a few automakers have been surprised at a time of lower gas prices and a surging interest in the subcompact crossover segment. Having launched the Buick Encore, however, General Motors isn’t one of them, as the Encore’s resounding success in the segment led Chevrolet to conceptualize the Trax (Trax and Buick both share the same mechanical underpinnings).

The Trax occupies the space between Chevy’s XXL and the XS. Although the Trax offers plenty of practicality, those wishing for more towing capacity, and efficiency will find the Equinox a better alternative. However, for those residing in tight urban areas, the new Trax will undoubtedly make more sense.

Its compactness aside, the new model offers plenty of other likable features as well. The interior is easy to get into, and once inside, you’ll realize the extensive use of premium materials used on most surfaces. The seats, to start with, are comfortable and supportive and will make long-haul trips comfortable and memorable.

For general use, though, the Trax isn’t as exciting as it may suggest during your first encounter with it in your local dealership. Acceleration is lackluster and the four-cylinder engine is only suitable for city driving. Steering and handling are below par, while the ride quality in general can exhibit a significant amount of choppiness on rough roads.

As such, it would be advisable to check what its competition offers before penning it down. Rivals include the Mazda CX-3, Fiat 500X, and the Jeep Renegade. Our favorite in this segment happens to be the CX-5 – it is an intricate balance between storage space and seating comfort, best on-road dynamics, and incredible all-road capability.

Trim Options – 2021 Chevrolet Trax

The new five-passenger, subcompact 2021 Chevrolet Trax crossover is offered in LTZ, LT, and LS trim levels. You have the option of specifying between a FWD and an AWD system.

2021 Chevrolet Trax Engine Specs & Fuel Economy

Motivation for the 2021 Chevrolet Trax is offered by a 1.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine beneath its hood, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission system. The system is tasked with the sole responsibility of routing the power generated – 138 hp and 148 lbs. ft. of torque to either the FWD or the AWD.

Zipping from 0-60 mph takes under 10.0 seconds – lackluster acceleration relative to what other small crossover in its class offer.

When we come to the fuel economy, EPA says we should look forward to fuel economy ratings of about 24/31/27 mpg in the city/highway/combined with an AWD, and 26/34/29 mpg with the FWD.

2021 Chevrolet Trax Release Date & Price Estimate

The 2021 Chevrolet Trax price should be expected to start from an MSRP of about $20,300. When should it be offered for sale? I would wager its release sometime in early 2021.
