When the news broke about the 2021 Infiniti QX80 coming out, we were really excited to see what could the model bring. The vehicle is still in development but the information about it is still pretty fresh and seems very much favorable to learn about it. The car has made certain strides in recent years and although there are still some faults to it, there is a lot better than the car possesses than the worse. What we are expecting to see from it is an update that is going to do it justice. The current generation model has performed well, but it can always be better. All in all, whatever they decide to bring may only be favorable for the car.

One thing that cannot be denied about the 2021 Infiniti QX80 is its size. The enormous proportions of the car are both an advantage and a disadvantage. While it proves to be a favorable car when hauling people and stuff, it is still bot as manageable when you need to maneuver the vehicle. The power is good but the fuel economy suffers because of the weight and size of the car. But since it competes in the high-end segment, the comfort and the luxury features are more important for this car. This does not matter if the mechanics are a little bit dated as the model should be able to provide a top-notch interior offer that is not matched by many.

As far as the trims are concerned, the 2021 Infiniti QX80 will bring some new additions to the roster besides your standard choices. You are probably already familiar with the QX80, QX80 AWD, and QX80 Limited, but this year Infiniti has also announced some special ones like the Signature Edition model and also the Monograph trim. These are going to be limited editions but it still upgrades the offer which Infiniti is making for its QX80.

The last time the Infiniti QX80 has received a bigger redesign was in 2011 when the model decided to stop using the Titan platform and crossed to the one from the Nissan Patriot. It has proven to be an important factor for this car and brings it all the needed goodness it deserves. Probably the main updates for the 2019 version are the interior and the safety setup, while the exterior design goes though minor tweaks which might even go unnoticed. The release date is getting closer to let’s get a closer look at the 2021 Infiniti QX80.

What is the Release Date of the 2021 Infiniti QX80?

There are many specifications that state the release date of the 2021 Infiniti QX80, but the thing is that it will not arrive earlier than 2021. In fact, it might even take until the end of the year for the model to be released. Even though this is a mere update, Infiniti is in no way in a hurry to make the release public. This is going to remain to be a top model in the class but they are taking their time to redesign it and presenting it to the public. We are probably going to see the whole vehicle within the start or middle of the year while the sales are going to start somewhere down the line. The project is an important one for the brand so they are going to make sure that they do things right.

The luxury brand 2021 Infiniti QX80 has announced the initial pricing for the vehicle. The price is actually not going to be so much off compared to the current model. The update is going to increase the price but it is going to be in a small and perhaps an insignificant way. The vehicle will cost 63,850 USD for the RWD option while the AWD jumps to 66,950 USD. Limited is still the most expensive trim and it will be sold for about 89,450 USD. The newest model which Infiniti is bringing is the Signature Edition which will be sold for 67,335 USD in its RWD form while the AWD one is going to be priced 70,435 USD. As far as the Monograph version, the price for it is still not clear and it might be released somewhere during the year. All in all, the brand is going to enjoy its latest update and it will bring a new offer for the fans.

A Very Interesting Design of the 2021 Infiniti QX80

The exterior of the 2021 Infiniti QX80 is going to feature some of the most interesting design cues that you would not be able to find in other modern SUVs. It combines a truck-like appearance with plenty of angles with the looks of traditional utility vehicles seen in the past. But this is all done in good taste which makes the QX80 exceptionally interesting. The vehicle is probably going to dazzle you because of its vintage charm which not a lot of cars on the market have. The only vehicle which has a similar setup is the one which platform it shares, the Nissan Patriot. The old school appeal of this car is actually its biggest advantage and probably a very big draw when it comes to the most hard-core fans.

The proportions are done exceptionally well and the ride height gives it a perfect SUV stance. The D-pillars are positioned in a way so it complements the rest of the vehicle and practically adds to the tailgate and the raised panels in the back while also adopting some swelled fenders. The chrome vents on the fenders are mainly there for the show while only one of them is actually functional. The new design adds a more organic shape with rounded shapes all over the car. Most of the people enjoy it but in a way, this might split the fans a bit. The front end is endowed with the massive headlights and an enormous grille while the added LED elements also make a great new inclusion here. All in all, the 2021 version of the Infiniti QX80 is great to have and is a very nice car to enjoy your ride.

Inside the 2021 Infiniti QX80

Generally speaking, the interior of the 2021 Infiniti QX80 is the highlight of the car. Design-wise, the cockpit is the greatest asset of the car and it just goes to show how much effort they have decided to put into making this model. It actually provides all the necessary elements that the rivaling models have but in a way, it also gives some more that you will not see there. It is actually a very interesting alternative to what you are expected to see in other luxury lined cars as this one puts its own twist on the story. Some specifically added details include wood additions around the analog clock, audio controls, and the steering wheel. The newest model will also add the hazelnut colored leather which is going to match the wood inclusions perfectly.

The dash has a peculiar hockey-stick angle which you may find unusual at first but it is something that you will get used to really quickly. An aluminum strip is implanted into the shift lever and there are also some new strips added to the stitching of the seats. Generally speaking, the whole interior boats with various masculine details that you can find all over the interior of the car and it brings you a stellar design that you are probably going to enjoy. It actually feels like you are in an Infiniti sedan as they have managed to transfer the atmosphere and the feel of it.

2021 Infiniti QX80 Powertrain

All of the current 2021 Infiniti QX80 will come with the same powertrain option. Unfortunately, they have decided against making any kind of changes when it comes to powertrain. The vehicle is Going to continue to use the 5.6-liter V-8 engine which will enable it to make 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The standard option is the rear-wheel-drive while you can also choose an all-wheel drive as well. The drivetrain combines with a 7-speed automatic transmission as its only choice. Maybe the power does not seem so high for the size of the car, but it is actually very much appropriate for the segment. The engine is smooth and strong and it appears that Infiniti has hit the nail right on the head when they have decided to opt for this one. Sometimes power is not all as you have to make the correct choice which can help with the drivability and the appropriateness of the engine.

0-60 mph and Top Speed

The new 2021 Infiniti QX80 is a surprisingly quick model. It does hold a pretty nice pep in its jump and even with all the weight and size, the model is capable of making a great feat when it comes to accelerating. The vehicle is going to jump from 0 to 60 mph in about 7 seconds. The top speed remains 133 mph as well and there are not going to be any improvements made when it comes to these specs. But it still suits the car and works pretty well for it.

Fuel Economy takes a Toll

The fuel economy of the 2021 Infiniti QX80 is going to take a massive toll. As the model is too big and too heavy, we have not expected it to score high on the fuel economy rating stats. Even with the newest update, the model does not improve so much. Perhaps this is the part which they should try and address in the future which could mean the inclusion of a different kind of powertrain and new ability to save fuel.

Size and the Dimensions of the Car

The 2021 Infiniti QX80 is a massive car, its size is both its greatest asset and its downfall. It has greatly limited its fuel competition potential and maneuverability but has expended its comfort and usefulness. The model will still bring the same spacing as before and we are not expecting them to change this year. The model will provide the fans with the kind of a look that they are used to for now and will save any dramatic changes for the future. The overall length is 208.9 in, wheelbase 121.1 in, height 75.8 in and width 79.9 in. The people inside are going to enjoy roominess of 153 cu ft while the trunk spacing comes to 17 cu ft.

Safety and Security

The 2021 Infiniti QX80 is still to be crash-tested, but as far as we know the model adds some great advanced safety systems. These are going to include dual front and side airbags,  curtain-side airbags, anti-lock brakes, tire-pressure monitors,   stability control and active headrests which all come as standard. The model will substitute the traditional rearview camera with a surround-view camera system which allows you to see at a 360-degree look and see what is happening all around the car. This system comes with cross-traffic alerts and there is going to be a Driver Assistance package which will add additional safety specs only available through it.

Competition Models

The newest 2021 Infiniti QX80 is going to compete in the full-size luxury crossover segment alongside other SUV models. It will need to bring about its best offer which may easily get trumped by the competing models which are very much strong here. The segment has never been fuller and if they want to keep the QX80 brand going, Infiniti needs to make certain strides to make things happen. Our thought is that they have managed to make the update in the best time possible as it could be too late down the line. Models that are featured here include the Bentley Bentayga, Land Rover Range Rover, 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser and the Cadillac Escalade. All of these may be good for your needs and sometimes there are only small differences which separate them apart and from each other.
