It has been finally spotted and the 2021 Jaguar F-Type is in the works. The vehicle is wearing heavy camo and is doing its road testing at the Nurburgring track and getting ready for a release. What is much more interesting about this news is not only the spy photos that came with it but the fact that they have said that they are preparing for the first showcasing of the car somewhere in 2020. Many speculations point to the auto show happening in Geneva.
The British brand has made and released its F-Type model back in 2013. It was a popular choice and a versatile one. It came as a roadster but then updated with a coupe and convertible versions afterward. It slowly added a manual transmission than an AWD which was then followed by a power increase. The versatility of the vehicle is also shown in its varied use of engines which span from 300 hp to 500 hp, depending on the trim.
The update actually did not come as suddenly as the vehicle has been awaited to appear. It was just a matter of time when. The facelift will provide the car with some new additions and it is said that they are going to change the formula for this version and we will see if it pays off. This review will help you with all the details, although scarce, which have been revealed so far.
2021 Jaguar F-Type Release Date Info
We have finally gotten some information about the release date of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type. Well, it is actually not much but enough to keep us guessing and excited at the same time. The model will be previewed along this year at an auto show still not confirmed, which will subsequently place the date somewhere around the end of the year or the very beginning of 2021.
What is the Price of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type?
The current price of the car will not change so much compared to the 2021 Jaguar F-Type. This means that the current base MSRP of $61,400 is not going to be surpassed. The same thing goes for the range-topping SVR version which is currently priced at $128,800.
News about the Outside of the Car
There are going to be some changes for the 2021 Jaguar F-Type. The original F-Type is a standout and a staple race car, so we would feel a little bit bad if they decide to tamper with the design too much. Luckily, it seems from the initial spy photos that they have kept the familiar look of the F-Type and just updated it a bit. The front part of the car seems to have changed the most. It still retains an oval grille, but a much smaller one and also it is split in two. Every Jaguar comes with air inlets on the sides and this one will probably update the shape of them for a new style. We also expect the headlights to change a bit and new LED patterns should also be added.
Although the side of the car is going to be completely identical to the current model, it appears that the same could be said for the back. It was expected that more changes were added for the rear of the car but it appears that the most that we can get are revised taillights and a new bumper as well, which are going to reshape the car a bit.
Inside changes and Additions for the 2021 Jaguar F-Type
The interior of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type comes with a two-seat layout with a heavy focus on the driver’s side. A three-spoke sporty steering wheel is in effect with well-bolstered racing seats for support. This is essentially what we can expect but we cannot confirm nor deny other additions due to the lack of spy photos of the inside. We might get a very similar layout as before with small changes such as the dashboard design and probably less use of hard buttons and switches.
The infotainment is going to be addressed in a big fashion. We are almost certain that they will base this car on the newest XF or the F-Pace models. This would probably mean a centrally mounted touchscreen and a different gauge cluster with a diagonal shape. The sound system is going to be provided by Meridian as it was expected.
We are expecting a boost when it comes to the engine of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type. The model will probably use the same two engine options as the previous model but we are expecting them to update them a bit. The current models use a V-6 engine with an output of 340 horsepower for the base and Premium models and a V-6 version that makes 380 horsepower in the S models and the ones with an AWD. As far as the V-8 engine goes, the one in the R model makes 550 horsepower and the SVR models have a 575 horsepower V-8 engine. The transmission options include either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic with paddles while the RWD is standard with AWD as optional. We do not have the exact details about the improvements they are adding but it is more than expected that they do make some and update the output a bit.
0-60 mph and Top Speed
With the update that we are expecting to see, the 2021 Jaguar F-Type will probably improve the acceleration rating. The current stats take the vehicle approximately 5 seconds to reach 0-60 mph and this will improve for a few tenths of a second. The SVR version needs 3.5 seconds to perform the same. Top speed might rise from the current 171 mph.
Fuel Economy Specs
The fuel economy rating has not been mentioned so far, but the 2021 Jaguar F-Type is not likely to improve the fuel consumption for this model. The changes to the powertrain are being done but it will only add more power to the car and not really help it consume less fuel. The current EPA ratings say that the car consumes 15 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway and these stats are probably going to stay this way.
Dimensions and Size
With the given update, the size and the dimensions of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type stay the same. It is apparent by the look of the car that changes in the dimensions are not going to be implemented this time. This leaves our car 176.0 inches long and with a wheelbase of 103.2 inches. The height is 51.5 inches and the width comes to 75.7 inches. The curb weight might change but there are no indications on how they might do this for now. The previous model had a weight of about 3750-4050 lb, depending on the trim level.
Safety of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type
Safety equipment is most certainly going to be transferred for the 2021 Jaguar F-Type. We have not received any information about the updates so far, but it would actually be good that the car receives some new equipment or at least update the old ones. There should be a focus on passenger safety more and it might be addressed this time and we can probably get to see some pedestrian protection parts provided here as well.
Based on the body type and specifications of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type model, there are concentrated groups of vehicles that can be regarded as its closest rivals. The models in hand are the Porsche 718 Cayman, the Chevrolet Corvette, and Porsche 911 vehicles.
