2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date, Price and Redesign

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee review

The last confirmed rumors we’ve got are not good for the marketing department of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We will have to wait a little more in order to see it before the release. The FCA doesn’t want to endanger the spotlight under which they currently have the new 2021 Dodge Challenger Demon, and they are going to unveil it at the New York Auto Show in April of 2017.

We’ve been waiting to see this year’s release only because we are tired of the same old design that hasn’t been changed since 2011 and the beginning of the fourth generation. That, and those rumors about the mighty 700 hp engine taken directly from the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The version of Jeep Cherokee that is going to borrow that engine is called 2021 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and you should make a difference between the new strongest Cherokee ever made and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk which is the name of 2017 model’s trim level.

When is The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date?

We don’t expect the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee release date to be moved any further. It will be released during the summer or autumn of 2020. The exclusion of this model from the ongoing plans for Auto Shows has nothing to do with its release date. We are going to get the 700 hp Cherokee, don’t worry.

What is The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Price?

There is no official news about the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee price, but since that will be the strongest model out there don’t expect anything less than $80,000. Purely for comparison purposes, the 2017 Grand Cherokee starts at $30,000; Grand Cherokee SRT starts at $66,900; 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk costs around $43,100.

Is There Anything New On 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Exterior?

The same design that pervades through the entire fourth generation, is, of course, present in the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee exterior too. There are changes throughout trims but the base design is there. You can change the suspension, grille, headlights and taillights, side skirts and spoilers, but there are no core changes.

The grille is, therefore, larger because you need bigger airflow in order to cool the engine. Headlights will be very narrow but are not going to be any problems in road illumination. The front tow hooks are there to stay, just like on every other real terrain vehicle. For the 2021Grand Cherokee Trackhawk variant, we expect some even larger air intake to replace those small openings around the fog lights and even a taller grille. The Hellcats V8 will need some extra cooling.

According to some spy shots, the size of the cabin is not going to change but the angle of the windshield could go back a little bit in order to approve the aerodynamic and that menacing look. The other thing that will probably change, is the number of wheels options and their size. Plus, since this is a Jeep, after all, the underbody protection is going to come as standard on the off-road trim levels, and for the others as optional equipment.

The safety add-ons are going to be richer for Adaptive cruise control, radar sensors on bumpers, automatic parking and more. Also, as seen on some test rides along with the training courses, there will be an optional panoramic roof on higher trim levels.

What About The Interior?

The interior of 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is probably going to be refreshed. The last model didn’t have any connectivity options for modern phones, the dashboard is already very old, and although the upholstery is of high quality some things might be changed. The 2021Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is certainly going to get some new details, brought to the level of sports design. Some rumors which have already started circling around pointed out the necessity of the Hellcat insignia. We don’t see the need for that since that is the mark of the Dodge, but why not?

The seating configuration will remain the same. There are going to be two rows of seats meant for five people. The storage area will probably remain the same. The trunk will have 782 liters which will get larger with rear seats folded down. And if we consider the hidden compartment under the floor, you get the larger space than on the BMW X5.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine Specs

Like for any other model, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee engine will come in a couple of versions. There are rumors about the updated 3.6 liters Pentastar V6 engine as a standard offer. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel (which will have the best mpg values), will stay for diesel variants. The third one will most probably be the good old 5.7 liters Hemi V8 and Grand Cherokee SRT with 6.4 liters Hemi V8.

The one special edition, which we are all waiting for is the strongest model of them all – the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. That one will use the “all-powerful” Hellcat under the hood, and it will bring all 700 horses with it. The engine will be the 6.2 liter V8 tamed by the Hellcat’s standard eight-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel economy will have some decent values, and we don’t think that it is going to be any different than on the last year’s models.
