With the 2021 Kia Forte model, the vehicle is going to receive its first facelift after the release of the second-gen models. What we immediately need to state is that the vehicle has not changed so much. It still has most of the characteristics which are present and brought with the debut of second-gen cars. But what is new is the introduction of a new trim level, the S trim, which is going to be placed between the LX and the EX trims. It is actually a very nice refresh and shoppers should try this version on for size.
The story of the second-generation Forte vehicles starts in 2013 when the brand introduced their new fleet of vehicles. With a new designer on board and with lots of ambition they managed to update the Kia Forte in such a manner that we have received a car that is both modern looking and is better compared to its predecessors in so many ways. With new engines and a better interior, it was a promising new future of the Forte models coming from Kia.
As the prices for the 2021 Kia Forte models have been announced and the release date is also getting closer it was time for a review. So you do not have to watch pictures of the car anymore as here you can read all the necessary facts about it.
When is the Release Date of the 2021 Kia Forte Scheduled for?
The new 2021 Kia Forte facelift is not going to linger so much and the car is going to be already available for sale within the upcoming year. The release date is set for the summer of 2020 and the car is going to be released way before the expected timeline. Fans of the car have a chance to already enjoy their favorite car.
What is the Price?
As we said, the price list for the 2021 Kia Forte models has already been announced. The pricing starts with the base LX version which is being offered for a MSRP price of $16,490, but if you want to use an automatic shifter you can get it for a price of $17,500. The newly introduced S trim cars are offered at $19,200 while the top range EX trim will cost $21,200. Various optional equipment and packages are also going to be available for different prices.
Very Small Changes on the Exterior
The exterior design of the 2021 Kia Forte car has changed, but it does not appear that way. When you look at the car you can hardly notice the changes that the car has gone through and it would take a long a closer look to see them all. The thing that they said they change is the shape of the grille and the headlights. They are both wider so they meet at the top edge part. The hood has been kept the same but the lower fascia has gone through the most noticeable changes for it. The fog lamps have been repositioned and they also appear to be larger while some vents have been added in the corners.
The side of the car is almost identical to the current model, with the only changes being the wrap-around taillights which are a bit rounded and have added a clearer lens. The back of the car also adds slight changes. The only ones that we can see are a lip that is slightly more pronounced than before and taillights which have received double layers. The lower part adds body lines to the corners and gives an overall sporty appearance of the car.
Also what separates the new S trim from the rest of the lineup are 16-inch alloy wheels and the addition of LED daytime running lights. In the back, it receives a spoiler while the exhaust tips have chrome on them.
Inside of the Car
Generally speaking, the interior of the 2021 Kia Forte has not changed dramatically as well. The model is pretty much similar and has managed to retain most of its looks and features. There are slight changes in the dash and door parts on the passenger side and they match the ones seen on the driver’s side. The seats are also similar and have a general look like the 2016 model but what has changed is the updated technology and some pieces might vary between trims which will distinguish them from each other.
The LX and S trims are going to get better cloth materials for the seats, with the S trim using a black theme with white stitching. The S trim has a leather steering wheel while the LX offers a whole interior with leather and the seats also come with heating and 10-way adjustability. As far as the technology goes in the EX and S trims the infotainment system has been updated with UVO33 telematics and it is going to add a seven-inch touchscreen with all kinds of connectivity features. But the best part is that all trim levels come with Drive Mode Select offered as standard.
Powertrain and Output
There have been some changes for the powertrain of the 2021 Kia Forte. First of all, the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine is no more, the EX and S trim models are going to use a 2.0-liter, Atkinson 4-cylinder engine and come with a choice between a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. Unfortunately, not a lot is known about the output. Since they changed things around they did not say anything about the potential power that the car will have. We can say that it might range to somewhere around 147 horsepower as the previous version.
0-60 mph and Top Speed
The new engine also brings changes for the acceleration of the 2021 Kia Forte. But as luck would have it, they have still not released any official numbers. But as estimations go we can expect to get above 8 seconds to reach 0-60 mph and a top speed of 122 mph.
Fuel Economy for the Car
The same thing goes for the fuel economy of the 2021 Kia Forte. They are still trying to determine what the specs about this are going to be. We do hope that the numbers come out more favorable than the last time, but Forte was already a good car when it came to the fuel consumption of the model. The vehicle managed to provide 29 mpg city and 38 mpg highway in its last version and we will get to see if this is going to improve.
The Size of the Car
The size of the 2021 Kia Forte is not going to suffer any changes. The facelifted version is going to remain the same as the second generation models when they debuted in 2013. The length is 179.5 inches, the wheelbase amounts to 106.3 inches and the height comes to 56.3 inches with a width of 70.1 inches. This allows you to offer a spacing of 97 cu ft for the passengers and a cargo load of 15 cu ft.
Added Safety Equipment
When it comes to safety for the 2021 Kia Forte, a lot of the equipment is going to be transferred. We are hoping to see the range of airbags back here as the previous model came with front airbags, curtain airbags, and seat-mounted torso airbags. But there is much optional equipment that are going to be available for this model. They mainly include stuff like lane change assist, lane change warning, front collision warning, emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The compact segment where the 2021 Kia Forte will appear is not that easy to compete in. In fact, the number of cars featured here is so great that it might even be ludicrous to try your luck. But thanks to the new-generation models, the Forte has found its own crowd and is a worthy competitor here. Other models that present the best competing cars include the Honda Civic, Volkswagen Golf, and the Mazda3 as the top-selling cars in the segment.
