The new announcement that came is about the 2021 Lexus LC 500h model becoming a reality. Lexus has dropped its LC 500 model for the first time this year and it was arguably one of the more gorgeous releases that we saw already in the start of the year. But they did not stop there as following that release there were the LC F and the LC 500 Convertible versions released as well. But it was recently confirmed that we are also getting a hybrid one as well.
The prospect of a hybrid version is nothing new for Lexus, it will actually expand their hybrid lineup to seven offers. But what is amazing is that this model is supposed to be the company’s first ever two-door vehicle with a blue badge on its nose.
The new two-door hybrid car is based on the LF-LC concept model which made its debut alongside the LF-FC, already showcased at the Tokyo Auto Show. It is a great prospect and we can see from the released pictures that this kind of a design is a good looking one for the brand and it exemplifies a great kind of a look for the future of the brand.
The release date has already been scheduled and although this is a 2021 version, we are going to get the model before that. Here is a review to get yourself acquainted with this model.
2021 Lexus LC 500h Release Date Details
The model will be showcased this year and we will get to see the 2021 Lexus LC 500h already available for sale. The base version was showcased at the Detroit Auto Show, but the Hybrid model will be first showcased at the Geneva Auto Show and will be available for sale in the later part of 2020. The release date is set for fall and people will already be able to order their models.
What is the Price for the 2021 Lexus LC 500h?
The new 2021 Lexus LC 500h is of course going to be pricier than its base version. The initial offer of around $100,000 is expected to be given for this vehicle. But the confirmation about the exact figures will come soon.
How does the 2021 Lexus LC 500h look?
The 2021 Lexus LC 500h will be identical to its gasoline powered base model, but will have some minor details that are only available for hybrid options. The blue badges placed on the front and rear will help people distinguish the hybrid version from the gasoline one and also the added “h” in the lettering which stands for hybrid and tells the base LC 500 and the LC 500h apart.
Lexus aims to provide a model which will be aggressive but as this is a hybrid model they also want to make the design of the car as green as possible. Another difference comes in the wheels which have a different kind of a design to them. The bold and muscular design is going to be transferred from the base car and it still has all of the hallmarks of it. We do mean the massive spindle grille, the redesigned headlamps with the hockey stick-shaped LED daytime running lights, big exhaust outlets and wide rear fenders.
The same thing goes for the interior of the 2021 Lexus LC 500h. You will notice the two-tier dashboard embedded with soft surfaces and high-quality leather and Alcantara. Some minor changes compared to the standard model are seen on the instrument cluster and the infotainment display. The former will provide information about the battery while the latter gives us info about the extra menus and options that the hybrid version has.
The infotainment will be bolstered with an expanded infotainment package that was seen for the first time in the LC 500 model. It provides us with updated software and better graphics as well as being able to combine with the all new Mark Levinson audio package.
Powertrain and Specs
The new 2021 Lexus LC 500h will also get a completely new powertrain. Debuting on this model is a whole new hybrid setup which is called the Multi Stage Hybrid System. It combines a 3.5-liter V-6 gasoline engine, a very powerful electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. But some would say that the surprising inclusion here is the four-speed automatic gearbox mounted at the rear of the hybrid transmission. All in all, the setup manages to provide us with 354 harrower in total, 295 horsepower and 257 pound-feet of twist coming from the V-6 engine.
0-60 mpg and Top Speed
This new model will also provide great acceleration and people will not have to take the 2021 Lexus LC 500h for granted. It takes the car just around 5 seconds to reach 0-60 mph, which is just half a second slower than its base version model. Using the electronic engine only allows you a top speed of 87 mph.
Fuel Economy Specification
Although the fuel economy specifications are the most important factor of the 2021 Lexus LC 500h car, Lexus is still being very secretive about these numbers. They have yet to officially release the numbers, but luckily there are some close sources which estimate that the car will provide an EPA rating of 31 mpg city drive, 37 mpg highway and a combined rating of 40 mpg. This will make it a highly competitive car in its segment.
Dimensions of the Car
The dimensions of the 2021 Lexus LC 500h will also coincide with its base gasoline model. They come down to a complete length of 187.4 inches, width 75.6 inches, height 52.9 inches and a wheelbase of 112.9 inches. The interior volume and cargo capacity is also the same.
What are the Safety Specs?
The 2021 Lexus LC 500h will come with some class leading safety standards and it all starts with the Lexus’ new Safety System +. It offers a range of active safety features which are supposed to prevent collisions and help in any kind of a traffic situation. It also offers a precision camera and millimeter-wave radar, while the Pre-Crash Safety is equipped with pedestrian detection Lane-Keeping Assist, All-speed Adaptive Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beam headlamps.
What Rivaling Models will the 2021 Lexus LC 500h face?
The most obvious rivaling models with the 2021 Lexus LC 500h is supposed to face includes the BMW I8. This model is fairly close in terms of luxury and performance that the Lexus is also able to provide. It will undoubtedly be a close race between these two models as we are going to get to see them battle it out once the LC 500h is released.
