In recent news, there has been some more information shared about the 2021 Lexus LS500. We have been fairly critical about them not sharing the information about the upcoming vehicle with us, but have been waiting patiently to get them. Since there are some recent information and updates made about the car we bring them to you here.
2021 Lexus LS500 Release Date Update
The previous announcement about the release date of the 2021 Lexus LS500 was not so clear. Unfortunately, things do not get better with the update as Lexus has failed to provide clear information about when they are planning to release the car.
However, the rumor mill sometimes provides truer information than you may think it could. In fact, the vehicle has already been seen on the Detroit Auto Show in 2017, so the expectation about seeing this car has been sky high ever since the initial showing. We feel confident when the rumors say that the model is going to be out by February 2021. This is very much plausible as the initial release date said that they are going to output it on the market until the start of the year. The most important market for the car still remains the US, and they are going to do anything to fight off the competition which offers a lot.
An Immaculate Interior
With the upcoming 2021 Lexus LS500, we are expecting to see upgrades in the interior. The previous Japanese cars were made in such a way that they seemed like a knock-off of the rivaling cars, namely the ones coming from Germany. But with the expected 2021 release, the LS500 is supposed to be made in a Japanese style. That means immaculate interior with extensive comfort and technological upgrades for the inside.
We have learned recently about their idea for the interior and they are going to welcome us to a very well-made seating arrangement. We are supposed to feel like sitting on a high-end couch. That really sounds well and the pictures of the padded center-console lid and door-mounted armrests which give an impression as if it is floating when compared to the door panel. There is also going to be some added ambient lighting which is going to additionally lighten the mood a bit and make everything seem advanced.
2021 Lexus LS 500 Exterior Styling
It is more than obvious that the 2021 Lexus LS500 is going to borrow the design language from the Infiniti and Mazda models. Now it is all conformed to the flowing compound curves which are going to be added towards the sharp creases. Of course, the Lexus spindle grille is going to be present there and will be the highlight of the exterior design of the car. An impressive part here is that the car is positioned much lower and looks much sleeker than before. This is going to put it against most of the competing cars and make for much better sales as we presume.
2021 Lexus LS 500 Engine News
It is confirmed that the 2021 Lexus LS500 is going to be powered with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine. It is also combined that the car is going to be able to gain an output of 414 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The novelty is the addition of the all-new Aisin 10-speed automatic transmission system, which was previously seen on models such as the F-150 and Camaro ZL1. This will allow more flexibility with the CVT system compared to a more traditional approach and will eventually enable the ratio spread being stretched far more than before. As always, the rear-wheel-drive comes standard while the all-wheel drive is given optionally.
All in all, the recent updates put this model head to head with the competition in the segment. It still gives us what it promises and perhaps we are getting more than we hoped for initially. You can still read our initial review about the 2021 Lexus LS500 bellow. Combine it with the updated information that we have provided for you so you get a clearer picture of the car in hand.
Everyone’s probably heard about the new 2021 Lexus LS 500, but they have certainly missed one crucial thing. There was something no reviewer has spotted behind his keyboard and on the site. Actually, the company itself had to publish their close-ups, just to hint that one big clue for their plans.
We are going to go through all the casual details, but we are going to reveal that special detail, everyone missed.
2021 Lexus LS 500 Price and the Release Date
All the managers kindly refused to answer or cleverly dodged all the additional questions about the 2021 Lexus LS 500. Those questions were mainly focused on the average mpg and the actual price because everyone could draw some conclusions about the rest on their own. The release date will be somewhere at the end of 2017, meant to be the model for 2021. Pricing is not official, but judging by the official prices for the 2021 Lexus LC 500, it will not go under $93,000. And we are talking about the base model.
That kind of pricing must not be strange for anyone, considering the effort invested in these luxury cars. Every single detail in it just yells luxury and sport… In this case. We will get to that.
2021 Lexus LS 500 Exterior is Better Than Ever?
Every single stylistic cue on 2021 Lexus LS 500 is overwhelming. As soon as you look at it, you notice the size and those L-shaped hints all over the car. It is like nothing we ever had an opportunity to see in this class. The front is practically unique with the signature grille going from the tip of the hood to the bottom of the bumper. Every single part of it going from the L-shaped (for Lexus) LED daytime running lights to the taillights designed in the same manner. It is stylistically a masterpiece and I practically begged my editor to write about this car. It is one of the most beautiful cars.
The contours and stylistic details are becoming a signature weapon for the Lexus of 2021. Every single prototype we had an opportunity to see had a similar signature grille and those tiny, elegant headlights. LS, LC, RC F Sport and especially the all-new SUV 2021 Lexus UX, which is going to be the most beautiful SUV on the market (if you like HALO franchise, you will even love it more).
2021 Lexus LS 500 Interior Has a Hint For You!!!
The interior is always a showcase of things you can expect of a vehicle and the actual owner of the vehicle. It is for a car, what is a soul for humans. This one is also a mirror of its price.
If you are paying above 50K for a car, you better get some leather and wood. Well, in this car, you will feel like a top-class businessman (or a woman). It even reminds everybody of Mercedes in some details. The first thing that made all that possible is the size of the car and its 123-inch wheelbase is about 1.3 inches longer than the current version. You could drag an elephant into this car. (some short elephant)
The entire space is designed in the manner of Japanese elegance. They are the only ones capable of designing interiors this bold. You will see the entirely leather seats with ventilation and heating. The back seats are also going to have some automatic calf support and 2 big multimedia screens. The only bad thing also comes on that rear part of the interior. When our correspondents tried to sit, their heads were banging on the roof. Well, almost. All in all, the headroom is pretty scarce.
The front part of the interior is in a minimalistic design with a large central multimedia screen and completely digitalized virtual cockpit in front of the driver. The thing, Lexus is probably going to boast with will be the largest head-up display in any commercial vehicle. The 24-inch head-up display is going to be optional, but it will be the first of its kind. I don’t think that you were even thinking about that.
The rest of the equipment is pretty common now. It goes from the rich multimedia devices with touchscreen control and the additional touchscreen controller under the shifter. Multimedia is updated with 3d sound which works perfectly in that wood-leather covered interior.
The safety measures are also very similar to other cars in that class. They include pre-collision sensors, pedestrian detection, proximity distance control; blind-spot monitoring and lane-keep control. The extraordinary addition to the Lexus Safety System Plus is that it now also controls the steering wheel while staying in the driving lane boundaries. That practically means that it will give 110% of its effort to break and drive away from the pedestrians while making sure not to endanger anyone else.
Now, the thing inside the interior, which is the main creator of the rumors floating around, is the controller just below the shifter. It is a plain touchpad, with some clickable buttons. One of those buttons is called EV Mode… If that is not a good cause for the rumor, I don’t know what is.
2021 Lexus LS 500 Engine Specs
The engine options for the 2021 Lexus LS 500 are incomplete. At least the data is incomplete. Everything that we know officially is that it is not going to have the old V8. In the place of that, Lexus is planning to implement (first time ever) their 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. It produces 415 hp and 443 pound-feet of torque. That kind of power gives it the acceleration enough to go from 0-60 in whooping 4.5 seconds, which is pretty good for the large luxury sedans. Taming force for this power is the 10-speed automatic transmission which will be judging by the acceleration time, give this vehicle some sports capabilities.
The mpg ratio is not yet determined and our correspondent couldn’t get any additional info about the alternative drivetrains. Officials were able to say that they are experimenting and researching on that subject but there is nothing definitive.
Possible EV Mode!!
In spite of that “silence”, the main 2021 Lexus LS 500 web page has that photograph of the touchpad. It is very intriguing to look at that button, not knowing whether it’s true or not. We can make some assumption that it is true, based on the fact that 2021 Lexus LS 500 will be built in the GA-L architecture which is the same architecture debuted in the LC coupe. That model has the electric drivetrain and 3.5 liters naturally aspired engine. It would be a shame not to see LS 500 without the EV mode, now when we have already seen it… standing in plain sight…
2021 Lexus LS 500 PROs
Beautiful exterior with the signature grille; Minimalistic design in the interior; 24-inch head-up display; excellent engine option and the possible hybrid alternative.
2021 Lexus LS 500 Cons
The price is not official but even that unofficial price is a bit too much for the majority of us mortals. My selfish ME can’t approve that; There is a flaw in the back seats. Allegedly, the headroom on the back is too small. There is a possibility that it could be a problem for some taller passengers. That is not official since only a couple of persons were permitted to enter the vehicle during the Auto Show.
