2021 Ram 1500 Release Date, Price and Interior

2021 Ram 1500 review

Here have been some new details that have emerged about the 2021 Ram 1500 truck. It appears that they are getting ready to release the newest design version and new generation model of their Ram 1500 truck. The sources that leaked the information were assembly a source that is closer to the company.

It appears that Ram is implementing its evolutionary style for the new car as they are letting it evolve by making small changes particularly for the form and function of the car. We do know that this model is going to keep using the steel frame as opposed to the aluminum one which was introduced by Ford F-150. They say that this allows designers to add more interesting body lines as shapes for the model which are not possible with the aluminum design.

It also appears that Ram is changing its home and the production of this vehicle will come in an all-new place. So far FCA has made room for the Ram 1500 by removing the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 production from their area and allowed 1500 to be assembled at the Sterling Height Assembly Plant. This is something new for Ram as all the last models were made in the Warren Truck Assembly Plant.

The currently released photos for the car show us which direction they are taking with the newest model. Although the actual release date is still a few years away we can prepare for it by introducing a review about the 2021 Ram 1500.

When will the Release Date for the 2021 Ram 1500 be?

For now the release date for the 2021 Ram 1500 is still a few years away. The production looks to be heading down nicely and there are reports that showcased a pretty stellar looking model. The development will certainly be finished around 2021 which will give us a finished product by the end of 2021 as it is showcased for now.

What Price does the 2021 Ram 1500 get?

The price range is still to be decided for the 2021 Ram 1500, but it will be somewhere around $25,000 for the base truck and might go all the way up to $65,000 for the highest level. The base MSRP pricing is not available still and will be obtained once the car establishes all the design elements.

2021 Ram 1500 Exterior Design

The next-generation 2021 Ram 1500 will be an evolution and improvement compared to the current truck design. Ram trucks are actually instantly recognizable since introducing their established there back in 1994 so it is hard to distinguish them between generation models. So they have decided to go in a different direction for it.

The front end is supposed to include smaller headlights that come integrated more into the grille. The bumper will add a larger opening which will improve airflow which provides cooling for the engine. It is also matted with large fog lights as well. There is a horizontal character line that runs towards the rear from the front which makes the side profile a bit livelier and this is the reason why they have decided on a steel construction than compared to an aluminum one.

The rear end will add smaller lights and the backup lights are going to be integrated vertically nearer to the tailgate rather than the bottom of the light lens. There are still no news if they are going to move forward on using the unique tailgate design which was able to work for the 2021 Honda Ridgeline and might be a good choice here as well.

2021 Ram 1500 Interior Changes

The information for the interior of the 2021 Ram 1500 is very scarce. The thing that we do know is that the car is going to have a center console that has a flatter design compared to before and will allow more storage. There is a spy photo of the inside which shows us a particularly unchanged inside with a familiar infotainment system and center stack. This might change a bit for the final product but for now, they are keeping things unchanged.

The steering wheel is the one borrowed from the Chrysler Pacifica model and it comes with updated controls. There is a thicker rim for the wheel as well and it is updated with a more modern appearance, generally speaking. We also expect that an enlarged gauge cluster with a bigger graphic display is made as well which might make things a bit more convenient as well.

Powertrain Option and Specifications

Under the hood of the 2021 Ram, 1500 things will be mostly the same. This means that the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 will continue to be used but with come with some updates to it like direct fuel injection which will help it get more power and at the same time have better fuel mileage. The 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 will also get direct fuel injection and with the already present deactivation technology and variable valve timing, we could be looking at an output of 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel is scheduled to be transferred completely here and will continue on making 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The base transmission choice is going to remain the ZF eight-speed automatic but individual engines will accommodate different transmission choices.

0-60 mph Performance and Ability

The acceleration rate might remain almost the same for the 2021 Ram 1500. The power for the engines might increase but the weight is going to be the same. So we can probably expect to get a little bit better when it comes to power enhancement but not a whole lot. The current rate is 7 seconds to reach 0-60 mph and a top speed of 107 mph.

2021 Ram 1500 Fuel Economy Ratings

We do not expect the fuel economy to get any better for the 2021 Ram 1500 truck. The weight reduction is not happening now so we are not expecting to get some amazing rates when it comes to the fuel economy of the car. The current model makes 17 mpg city, 25 highway, 20 combined for the 3.6-liter V-6 with RWD and the AWD makes 16/23/19 mpg. The 5.7-liter V-8 engine has an EPA rating of 15/21/17 mpg with 4WD and gains 1 mpg for the RWD version.

2021 Ram 1500 Dimensions

We are not expecting the 2021 Ram 1500 to change dimensions that much and it will remain the same as it was before. The changes to the exterior are mainly aesthetic and the update is merely going to refurbish the car and we are not expecting it to grow in any way. So expect the overall length to be 229.0 in as before and a wheelbase of 140.5 in. The height should remain 77.5 in and the width 79.4 in as well. The curb weight and the passenger volume might change depending on the introduced changes which might affect these specs to be different.

Safety Specs and Ratings

The 2021 Ram 1500 will perhaps try to get better with the safety ratings. The previous version was the model of 1500 which was rated by the IIHS for the first time. It managed to get mostly “Good” scores except in the small-overlap front crash and rollover protection where it was marked as “Marginal.” But the federal testing was not so great for the model. The testing was met with an overall 4-star score which they have to make sure to get better for the new model.

The 2021 Ram 1500 will come out in a few years and even then we predict that the competition would not change if it came out today. The most important cars on the market so far in the given segment are the Chevrolet Silverado and of course the Ford F-150 model. It would be very hard to overpass these models in the segment and we are going to see whether the new Ram model has got what it takes to do that.
