Every year there is a truck in this segment that manages to offer something new which makes it better than the other competing models, but the Ram 2500 has always had a strong presence at the very top. The upcoming model will offer more of that.

All the currently available information for the 2021 Ram 2500 point to a release in early 2021. The model is going through its final stage of production right now, which will make it available for the start of the upcoming year as its release date.

What is the Price?

Compared to the current price, the 2021 Ram 2500 will be similarly priced. The starting price of the outgoing model is 32,145 USD as a base MSRP so we think that the new one will cost at least 33,000 USD. The highest trim level will amount to 60,000 USD.

Exterior Design

The 2021 Ram 2500 is a working man’s truck. It does not have the appearance of a pricy model like some of the other trucks out there. The Ram 2500 wears it’s a heart on its sleeve and is not afraid to show it. The design of both the 2500 and the smaller 1500 is pretty straight forward. There are some similarities between the two butt also it is very easy to tell them apart. The design of these vehicles has not changed for years now and it will be kept similar now. They do not need to add any flashy additions and make the car interesting just for the sake of it being so. Every added piece is made with a purpose here and is there to be useful.

If we go higher and opt for a different trim, you will notice the level of chrome rising. The Limited trims are actually the ones that have the most additions made and they have a completely different and unique front fascia compared to the other trims. The model also comes back in SLT, Big Horn, Power Wagon, Laramie, Laramie Power Wagon, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited models.

Interior Look

When it comes to the interior of the 2021 Ram 2500 trucks, comfort takes a back seat. This car is built in order to be a working car so there is no room for unnecessary comforts. The base models have vinyl interiors and AM/FM radio, and that’s about it. The Regular-cab versions offer hand-crank windows and manual door locks, which is actually highly appreciated by the buyers.

Higher trims will get some offered optional equipment which will make the model a bit more modern. Thus you can opt for Chrysler’s corporate Uconnect touchscreen. This is much better than your regular infotainment system because it is much more intuitive and straightforward for the users of this type of truck. Of course, the higher trims also offer a leather interior and a seemingly higher level of comfort.

What is Under the Hood?

The big question about the 2021 Ram 2500 is what it is going to use under the hood. To power the vehicle they have decided to use a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 that makes 383 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. This engine is transferred from the 1500 model and is capable of towing 13,900 pounds within the 2500 version. This one is offered for all trim levels except the ones which are meant to have the off-road capability.

A bigger 6.4-liter V-8 engine is also available for use with the capability of making 410 hp and 429 lb-ft. This one is also capable of towing 7,390 pounds. This one is available for all the given trims and will possibly be the favorite among buyers.

The optional engine choice is a 6.7-liter turbodiesel inline-6 engine which provides an output of 370 hp and 800 lb-ft. Its biggest advantage is the capability of towing 18,000 pounds. This one is also used for the Ford Super Duty truck, so GM thought it was a good idea to use it here. All of the given engines will be matted to a 6-speed automatics, but a 6-speed manual is available in very limited circumstances on diesel-powered trucks.

0-60 mph Specifications

With the offered slew of engines, the 2021 Ram 2500 will have the same acceleration rates as it has now. The model will be capable of speeding up to 0-60 mph in 7.9 seconds and also be able to develop a top speed of 106 mph.

Fuel Economy

The 2021 Ram 2500 will probably not offer us the EPA stats any time soon. In fact, heavy-duty trucks do not report their fuel economy figures to the EPA so we do not have official rates to go on. But it is highly known that the fuel consumption rating here is immense and people who are getting this truck probably know what they are getting themselves into.

What are the Dimensions of the 2021 Ram 2500?

The dimensions for the 2021 Ram 2500 are, for now, carry over unchanged. We are looking at the same car in terms of size that it was the last time. The model is 237.4 inches long and has a wheelbase of 148.9 inches. The height is 77.7 inches and the width is 79.1 inches. The overall curb weight also comes down to 7039 lb.

Safety Specs

When it comes to safety of the 2021 Ram 2500, it is pretty hard to determine. The model does not possess a full set of safety rates, even from the last model. The current trucks were only rated by the federal testing agency and were given a 4-star rating overall, with three stars for rollover protection in four-wheel-drive models. Like with most heavy-duty trucks, the IIHS has yet to do their testing. But the Ram 2500 will come with your standard set of features like you would find in any other heavy-duty model. It has a standard offer of airbags, stability control systems. Currently, there are no advanced safety systems offered with this model.

Rivaling Cars

Maybe the 2021 Ram 2500 is a model that will not have a good opposing side. The car has pretty much been at the top of the segment so far, no matter what the vehicles around it have done. But it is fair to say that other models are trying to reach the top and vehicles like Ford F-250, Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, GMC Sierra 2500HD and Nissan Titan XD are all cars to be observed in this segment.
