2021 Subaru Legacy Release Date, Price and Exterior

2021 Subaru Legacy review

The new 2021 Subaru Legacy is a solid pick for anyone looking for a standard AWD drive, top crash test scores, lots of standard safety features, and excellent exterior visibility. Its release date should be expected sometime in the second quarter of 2021.

The new 2021 Subaru Legacy comes basic with an AWD, which is a potent and unusual likable trait for a contemporary family sedan. We are particularly impressed by the quality of the interior fittings, but compared to its more mainstream competitors, the Legacy’s dashboard design is a little stark.

The simple and straightforward interior design of the new model is highlighted by Subaru’s no-nonsense approach to car design. Common touchpoints such as the center console and armrests have been offered with soft-touch materials, whereas the touchscreen navigation system offered as an option comes with easy-to-use crisp graphics thanks to the large icons and smartphone-like operability.

The front seats are comfortable and are offered with plenty of front headroom. Further back, the 15-cubic-foot trunk trails the competition while the head- and legroom are slightly less than those offered by Ford Fusion and Honda Accord. Even so, the Legacy is nevertheless roomy for a small family sedan.

Things remain the same as before under the 2021 Subaru Legacy hood. It, however, comes a bit short in the way it drives. It’s less cushy and a bit slower than its competition. Both the six- and four-cylinder engines are smooth and quiet, but the acceleration is mediocre. On the upside, though, the standard all-wheel-drive gives it a good resume especially when the prevailing conditions are mundane.

Around turns, the newest Subaru Legacy is easy to drive and precise, but an abundance of lean or body roll inhibits the car from feeling truly sporty.

Many quirks inhibit the 2021 Subaru Legacy appeal nevertheless. Some of them include a lackluster acceleration, and a stiffer ride relative to its competition. Owners love Subarus, and we, in particular, love the Legacy. Brand loyalty is almost mind-boggling, but this is a strongly competitive segment loaded with very compelling and appealing options.

In terms of driver enjoyment, technology, and styling, these rivals are your best bet; the 2021 Toyota Camry, the 2021 Mazda 6, the 2021 Ford Fusion, 2021 Nissan Altima, and 2021 Honda Accord.

2021 Subaru Legacy Engine Specs

Inspiration for the 2021 Subaru Legacy is derived from a four-cylinder 2.5L and a 3.6L V6 engine. The base engine pairs to a CVT with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters which transmits the power generated – 175 hp and 174 lbs. ft. of torque to the AWD system.

The V6, on the other hand, generates 256 horsepower and 247 pounds-ft. of torque and is offered with the same transmission as the base engine. All mills are offered with a standard AWD system.

Zipping from 0-60 miles with the Legacy 2.5i Premium needs 9.4 seconds. This is a dreary acceleration relative to what the competition offers, as many of its direct rivals achieve the same sprint in under 8.0 seconds.
